An article in the Des Moines Register paints a different picture of charters out there than the one we're familiar with in many of our cities. Charters have been struggling to gain a footing there, according to the article:
Of 10 schools that opened in the past five years, two have dropped their charters. Eight schools are left. Some resemble their traditional public school counterparts, despite their license to break the mold.
